〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Yusei Fudo
CHARACTER AGE: 18
SERIES: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
CHRONOLOGY: Post Season Two's finale/Episode 64
CLASS: Hero
HOUSING: will opt-in for random roommate assignments (BUT PLEASE DO NOT HOUSE WITH CANONMATES)

BACKGROUND: Wiki Link, up to End of Dark Signers Arc.

PERSONALITY:

Yusei is serious to a fault, to the point where he is the type of person who speaks little and comes off as stoic and blunt (which he is). It's not out of place to assume that he makes a bad first impression considering how little he talks and how intense his blank face can be, giving off the impression that he's glaring a good 95 percent of the time. When he talks, it's brief and to the point, saying whatever he wants to share and not much else. He tends to keep to himself, however, he is not opposed to making friends, and does hold whomever he befriends close to his heart. He's reluctant to put anyone he cares for in any sort of danger, and is willing to do anything, even sacrifice his possessions, well-being, and even life in order to keep them safe.

Yusei doesn't often display his emotions: his default expression is what many would define as a "poker face," a neutral facial expression that may seem hostile or possibly angry at times due to his angular eyes. However, he is capable of showing his own emotions, both in small, barely discernible ways and in rather expressive ways (obviously favoring the former over the latter). Because he has a decent hold on his emotions, he can keep himself from acting on impulse most of the time, and prefers to think things through rather than jumping in blindly-the exceptions being certain key trigger points that cause him to flare up quickly and make seemingly irrational decisions (i.e.: DUEL ME). These are generally threatening harm to his friends, or calling someone useless. For all his appearances, he is a warm, caring person, whose small nuances and mannerisms make him easy to read by people who know him well. When he's comfortable, he even goes as far as more casual actions-shrugging and sighing and smiling when it's called for, and openly expressing more emotions than expected.

While it can be hard for others to read Yusei, he generally has an easier time reading others. He's surprisingly empathetic for someone so stoic, and can figure out someone's emotional state of mind if given ample time and opportunity to observe and/or interact with them. He's not psychic, per se, just very good at making educated guesses. It's this tendency of his to not only understand, but truly empathize with and feel for others that's earned him both friends and respect time and time again.

Yusei has a tendency to disregard authority, even when said authority is full of people he's come to respect-he requires little pressure to break the rules if necessary, and even his first reaction to crime committed against him is to seek justice by his own hands rather than to contact Security for help. In general, Yusei seems to rely on himself more than he does others, preferring to place more burden on himself if he can.

Though Yusei has acknowledged that his martyrlike tendencies lead him to make presumptuous and arrogant conclusions regarding his personal ability, or the importance of his sacrifice versus the idea that he would be missed at all, he hypocritically continues to act on such self-sacrificial behaviors. He carries a heavy guilt for his father's actions in the tragedy of Zero Reverse, and feels he carries a burden to the city that he can never make up for, often creating an outlet for his attempts of self-sacrifice.

POWER:

Star Navigation/Radar ✵ Lost Star Descent | "As You Know, Men Suck With Directions"

People have a history of divining things from the stars. Yusei's not so different despite his lack of belief in the occult, as he'll be able to divine the locations of friends by glancing at the stars (yes, the sun counts) (yes, it still hurts his eyes to look at it) (yes, this doesn't stop him from glancing at the sun to use this ability because sometimes he's a fucking idiot) and lining up their location with a map of the stars inside his head. Unfortunately, he's lining them up with a star map, not a regular map. So his directions kinda end up like...

Y: so you'd wanna head due northeast until you hit Antares, then hang left at Orion -
NPC: ???
Y: and you'll find them over by Cygnus' left wing
NPC: no, where are they
Y: ...there's a Wendy's there, probably.

...like that. Less than useful, unless he has An Actual Map to cross-reference.

Wind Manipulation ✵ Silver Contrail | "Inevitable Sparklederg Aesthetic"

Yusei can move the air around him, either to create a gust of air or to lift and push items and objects around. However Yusei being Yusei means that instead of focusing on any huge showy displays of power, he'd focus more on the finer control aspect of things. His narrow focus on utility means that most likely, he'd only ever use the ability to levitate objects around him, and try to master the ability to be able to do so unconsciously and multitask at the same time. His hobby of working on bikes and other mechanic pursuits means he'd absolutely get mistaken for a technomancer or a psychic at points because all he'd ever use it to lift are bike supplies and the like. The idea of levitating himself or other people to fly for short distances most likely wouldn't even occur to him unless under duress or somebody else points it out to him. For such a smart guy, he can be pretty short-sighted...

Also, the winds sparkle when he uses them. Because. Sparkledragon Aesthetic. He can't escape it.

Momentum Blood ✵ Zero Reverse | "Draw Him Like One Of Your Twilight Vampires"

Yusei's father, Dr. Fudo, had discovered a unique particle that he had dubbed the Planetary Particle, and named his son after the discovery. The reason had been because the particle itself drew other particles around it like a set of gears, and utilizing this unique property in turn led to the groundbreaking discovery of a new source of energy, Momentum. Which is basically rainbow-tinted perpetual energy.

Yusei now has this running in his veins instead of blood.

Yes, he bleeds rainbows.

However, because Yusei is a self-loathing moron who feels guilt over things beyond his control, including Momentum's destructive legacy, the amount of things he'll do with this spectacular fantastical physicist's wet dream (and/or nightmare) is a Big Fat Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. However, he will find himself unintentionally benefiting from its passive abilities: namely, the fact that he's now a living battery means he technically doesn't need to eat. Or sleep. His blood has all the energy he needs. Which means that habit of his to spend days at a time working without rest? He'd probably do that forever unless somebody stops him. Which, okay, his body can probably take that strain now? His mind, though? Another thing completely. The mind is not made for working unendingly like some kind of robot. Thankfully, channeling that energy enough means his eyes do this robot-y momentum glowing thing which can be a big ol' honking alert to anyone who knows him enough to knock him upside the head and make him Go The Fuck To Sleep. Other benefits include allowing Yusei to continue using his powers more or less unceasingly until someone knocks him out or breaks a limb or something, since he doesn't actually Run Out Of Energy anymore, but Yusei would have continued trying to do that regardless, so that isn't much of a change for him.

Also his skin shimmers and sparkles if he ever blushes (would he ever, though, he's Yusei?) and that's probably The Most Important Thing about him having magic rainbows for blood, honestly.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

[The screen flickers on. Sitting in front of the camera is a resigned-looking fellow, wearing the kind of expression you'd expect on the face of a sullen teenager who's been forced to come out of their room and socialize by their parents.

Which, actually, sums his predicament up well, if the parents were replaced with police officers. Apparently, this is his one free call and they've strongly suggested him taking it.

Yusei grunts a bit before sitting up a bit more stiffly and addressing the camera directly.]

I've been arrested for something minor.

[The nonchalant, almost indifferent way he says it is immediately contrasted by hysteric screeching offscreen by some person or other (a lawyer? another officer? a concerned visitor? who cares? yusei doesn't.). Something along the lines of you compromised at least three systems!!! you illegally created a backdoor and sent out an unauthorized distress call! do you know what kind of safety regulations you've broken??? all the repair work that has to be done??? the reworking of the system that the ITs have to do now that you've found loopholes in their security systems?

Yusei just stares blankly at said person, not changing expression.]

It was faster.

[THAT DOESN'T MAKE THINGS ANY BETTER??!?!?!?!

He's ignoring them again in favor of facing the camera, looking way too calm for someone who's been arrested.]

Anyways...for anyone who's expecting me for something, I won't be able to come for a while.

[A while? How long does he think he's going to even be in here???

he didn't even ask for bail]

FINAL NOTES: uhhhh he probably has his two decks on him since they're always in his belt pockets but it's not like they'll do him any good since he's the Team Normal Card Gamer.
